Road traffic bridges executed with a box girder construction allow longer spans and offer low maintenance costs. The box girder cross section is built up by vertical and horizontal glulam beams. The girders are held together with glue and transverse bracing. The girders can be manufactured with a camber to give the bridge a slight arch. Box girder bridges are extremely rigid and can therefore span greater distances.

The road surface is sealed with a waterproofing membrane and asphalt or gravel. Box girder bridges are usually made in one piece and are therefore capable of spanning distances of up to 30 metres. Dimensioning and surface treatment are all executed in accordance with the current Swedish bridge standard and the service life is 80 years.
